In 1899 Mr. Pratt (from England) was given the original Crown Patent of Lot 11 Concession 9 in the Township of Franklin. His purpose in buying the property was to build a sanatorium for his wife back in England who was very sick with Tuberculosis. A foundation was laid for the San as it was referred to at the time.
